The problem
Despite progress, billions of people lack safe water. Globally, 785 million people lacked a basic drinking water service in 2017. One third of all primary schools lacked basic drinking water, sanitation and hygiene services, affecting the education of millions of schoolchildren. Corporations can contribute to clean water access in several ways, including by avoiding polluting local water sources, responsible and sustainable water use (especially in water-stressed regions), providing safe water at all global facilities, creating jobs (economic mobility usually allows greater access to clean water), and charitable donations to clean water organizations
